Howard Simmons is the founding partner of the firm and has practised law since 1969. Howard’s practice is focused on business and the people who run these enterprises. He advises clients in the areas of business law, business succession, complex estate planning, and estate administration.
Howard’s practice encompasses business law and estate and tax planning. His wide experience in corporate and commercial law includes business organization, business transactions, mergers and acquisitions, corporate aspects of restructurings and acting for Canadian subsidiaries of multinational corporations.
Howard has particular expertise in providing ongoing advice to owner-managed businesses. A number of his clients use Howard as a type of general counsel, relying on his generalist background, broad legal experience and honest evaluation of problems. He assists business people and other individuals with their tax and estate planning, including corporate reorganizations, the preparation of wills and trusts and estate administration.
Along with his professional business law experience, Howard is an avid fencer and modern pentathlete and has competed for Canada in Britain, France, Austria, Estonia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bulgaria, the U.S.A., Germany, Czech Republic, New Zealand and Hungary.
